BigBrother CCTV AI Model License - Frequently Asked Questions
Important: This FAQ is provided for convenience only. It is not part of the License and does not replace or modify the BigBrother CCTV AI Model License. If there is any inconsistency between this FAQ and the License, the License takes precedence.
What is licensed under GPL?
The BigBrother CCTV software is licensed under the GNU General Public License Version 3 (GPLv3).
What is licensed under the BigBrother CCTV AI Model License?
The AI model, including model weights, ONNX files, configuration files, parameters and derivative versions, is licensed separately under the BigBrother CCTV AI Model License.
The GPL does not apply to the AI model.
Why are there two different licenses?
The software and the AI model are separate works.
The software is open source under GPLv3. The AI model is licensed separately because it represents a significant investment in training and development and is subject to its own licensing terms.
Can I use the software without the AI model?
Yes. The BigBrother CCTV software remains available under GPLv3 regardless of whether you use the AI model.
Can I use the AI model with BigBrother CCTV?
Yes. The AI model may be used with BigBrother CCTV in accordance with the BigBrother CCTV AI Model License.
Can I install BigBrother CCTV for customers?
Yes. Commercial installation, configuration, maintenance and support services are permitted provided the AI model is used in accordance with the BigBrother CCTV AI Model License.
Can I operate a commercial CCTV monitoring service using BigBrother CCTV and the AI model?
Yes. The AI Model License does not prohibit charging for monitoring, installation, support or other services based on BigBrother CCTV, provided the AI model is used only as permitted by the License.
Can I modify BigBrother CCTV?
Yes. The software is licensed under GPLv3 and may be modified and redistributed under the terms of that licence.
However, modifying the software does not automatically grant the right to use the AI model with every modified version. Use of the AI model is governed solely by the BigBrother CCTV AI Model License.
Can I use the AI model with another CCTV application?
No. The AI model may only be used as permitted by the BigBrother CCTV AI Model License.
Can I use the AI model in another AI project?
No. The AI model is licensed solely for use as permitted by the BigBrother CCTV AI Model License.
Can I redistribute the AI model?
Yes. Redistribution is permitted only in accordance with the BigBrother CCTV AI Model License. You must preserve copyright notices and include a copy of the License.
Can I sell the AI model?
No. The AI model may not be sold, licensed, sublicensed or distributed as a standalone product without prior written permission from the copyright holder.
Does the AI model come with any warranty?
No. The AI model is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind. Machine learning models can produce incorrect or incomplete results, including false positives and false negatives. You are responsible for validating all outputs before relying on them.
Who is responsible for complying with privacy, surveillance and data protection laws?
You are. Anyone deploying the AI model is solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
